Sexual Health and Responsibility Program (SHARP) Services for Youth and Families

Brief Description: Sexual Health And Responsibility Program (SHARP) Services are available both to young people who are self-referred/family referred or those that are county involved as a result of problematic sexual behavior or abuse. (Note SHARP services are not appropriate for those young people who are labeled or considered by courts or counties as “juvenile sex offenders”). The goal of the Sharp Services is to assist young people in taking a stand against problematic sexual behavior and the effects of this behavior on others and the community. The group assists individuals with developing a team/community that stand with them as they commit to changes in their life to avoid problematic sexual behavior and abuse in the future. Therapists are trained in narrative therapy, as well as sex-specific therapy.

Getting Started: To see if SHARP Services are a good fit, a parent can call the Intake Team at 612-377-9190×1; be sure to have your insurance information with you at that time. The intake process will gather a variety of important information for the Kenwood Center’s Co-Directors to review for appropriateness for services. Young people and their family members must complete a collaborative assessment process before being considered for on-going individual and family therapy.
